ENGLISH 1: COURSE SPECIFICATIONS COURSE TITLE: ENGLISH 1 TARGET GROUP: 1st year undergraduate studies – part-time students PROFICIENCY LEVEL:  Intermediate (CEFR B1) NUMBER OF ECTS CREDITS: 3 TOTAL NUMBER OF CLASSES: 30 (1 lecture + 1 practical exercise) DURATION: 12 October – 16 November 2018 (6 weekes) TIME: Friday – 4.35pm-8.50pm LOCATION: Lecture room 1 (might be changed!!!)

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE increase the knowledge of key business concepts while learning English preparing students for a career in business and effective communication in international business environment pre-preparation for international business English exams such as BEC and BULATS BY THE END OF THE COURSE STUDENTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO: read and understand business-related texts and pieces of academic writing listen to and understand business conversations speak and discuss opinions fluently write different formats of business letters

PART-TIME STUDENTS’ OBLIGATIONS LITERATURE MATERIALS - starting 19 October 2018 – MUST HAVE EVERY SESSION!!!! - BUSINESS ENGLISH COURSE BOOK – first 4 lessons (faculty library or in the bookstore e.g. Nova / online bookshop – NEW or SECOND HAND) - PRACTICE FILE & TEXTBANK (Optional) – first 4 lessons (available online) ATTENDANCE: minimum 50% of the total number of sessions attendance and participation are awarded with extra points EXTRA EXAMINATION PERIOD: second half of November (ONLY FOR STUDENTS WHO COME 5 or 6 TIMES TO THE TOTAL NUMBER OF SESSIONS FOR PART-TIME Ss) FINAL EXAM – February – 2 exam periods ONLINE EXAM REGISTRATION OBLIGATORY!!!
