CW Queen Kong Tuesday, 05 February 2019 Learning Outcomes To be able to analyse ways in which meanings are shaped in ‘Queen Kong’ from ‘The World’s Wife’

King Kong (1933 film) A film crew go to Skull Island – with leading lady Ann. She is kidnapped by Kong Kong falls in love with Ann Kong is captured and taken to NY to be exhibited He escapes – finds Ann – climbs Empire State Building, where he falls to his death.

Analysis: read the poem Queen Kong, a giant gorilla, falls in love with a man who comes to her island. After he has left she decides to follow him to New York, where they live together for many years. When he dies Queen Kong preserves him and hangs him around her neck so he will always be with her.

Analysis Work with a partner exploring stanzas. One pair – 1st One pair – 2nd One pair – 3rd Read your section carefully; pick out some interesting features, and be ready to explain them to the class.
