Today’s Objective SWBAT: Create a story plot diagram. Three major components of fiction (characters, setting, plot) HO: One story diagram per partner group, one story diagram per student, one Akeelah diagram homework per student Activator: Ask students to name the three major components of fiction, list their ideas, play Plot Rap, revisit their ideas Explain to students that there are three major components of fiction (characters, setting, plot) and that will need to develop all three when it is time for them to write their scripts. Say, today you will be introduced to all three components. Distribute a story diagram to each partner group Show the first part of the video that shows the story of The Three Little Pigs Stop video after the story and have partner groups try to fill in their plot diagrams Play the remainder of the video and have students self-check their progress Distribute a plot diagram to each student Have students go to the handout folder to choose one story to plot (Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Hansel and Gretel) May want to check out some hardcopies from library too Have students work individually to complete their plot diagrams HW diagram the plot of Akeelah and the Bee
