Things you need to know for the unit test! Sentence Types Things you need to know for the unit test!

Simple Sentence A simple sentence has one subject and one predicate. Examples: Jim and Sarah went to the movie. The mice scurried around the house.

Compound Sentence A compound sentence has two complete sentences, joined by a coordinating conjunction.

Remember coordinating conjunctions? F A N B O Y S

Examples of Compound Sentences: Jim and Sarah went to the movie and they went out for pizza afterwards. A passenger tried to bomb a plane, so airport security is increasing around the world.

Another example… Ben’s favourite ice cream is Ben & Jerry’s but he is willing to try Marble Slab Creamery’s ice cream.
