BULLYING [VIDEO1]

EXAMPLES OLD TESTAMENT EXAMPLES Prophet Elijah stood up to King Ahab who took a field from a poor farmer (1 Kings 21) Prophet Amos stood up against how the people treated the poor (Amos 2:6-7)

EXAMPLES NEW TESTAMENT EXAMPLES John the Baptist reminded people to treat one another better Tax collectors to stop collecting Soldiers to stop robbing people (Luke 3:9-14) Jesus worked with the poor He cared for the poor and the needy Spent most of His time with them His family was a poor family Disciples were of the poorest classes of society

EXAMPLES NEW TESTAMENT EXAMPLES Jesus teaches about justice and equality Jesus reproached the scribes and the Pharisees because they neglected the orphans and widows “Woe to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and for pretence make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation” (Matthew 23:14)

EXAMPLES NEW TESTAMENT EXAMPLES James the apostle wrote attacking the rich people who treat the poor workers with injustice “Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days. Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth” (James 5:1-4)

EXAMPLES CHURCH HISTORY EXAMPLES St. John Chrysostom, the Patriarch of Constantinople stood by the poor and the needy “Feed the hungry first then decorate the altar of Christ with embroided cloth and gold vessels” St. Basil the great called the rich to care for the poor “The food that you hide is not yours, but it is the food that should be given to the hungry men. That cloak which is inside your stores is the naked’s dress and the money you keep at home is for the needy.”
