Safe Sanitation A Solution for a Global Challenge Peter Williams Heathfield & Waldron

Global Sanitation Crisis: 4 Global Sanitation Crisis: 4.1B people use toilets that put untreated waste into the land, rivers and water table. This problem is acute in slum districts of major cities.

Lost in economic productivity Kenya’s 8M slum residents have no safe sanitation, causing profound health, economic and environmental challenges 17,000 Child deaths each year $270M Lost in economic productivity 90% Waste never treated

Conventional sewers are difficult to construct in informal settlements and are unaffordable to the authorities $56 pp/year for sewers $12 pp/year: KE’s projected 2030 WASH spending $7 pp/year: Nairobi’s 2017 WASH + resources spending

Fresh Life Toilet hygienic and easy to clean The Sanergy Solution Fresh Life Toilet hygienic and easy to clean

The Sanergy Solution Fresh Life Operators support and clean the toilets.

Safe & professional waste removal The Sanergy Solution Safe & professional waste removal

The Sanergy Solution Treatment plant can process waste from 500,000 people to produce organic fertiliser

The Sanergy Solution They rear Black Soldier Fly larvae, to produce protein-rich animal feed.

Progress towards the Foundation Global Grant Club Support to date: Heathfield & Waldron Nevers (France) Lewes Uckfield Bexhill Milimani Club of Nairobi (Host Partner) Brings us to over $10,000 With the matching funds from DDF and Global Fund we have exceeded the minimum level required for a Global Grant of £30,000 Please support this initiative, we want to do more. We would like to achieve at least $50,000, that means about $17,500 at the local level.

Improving Sanitation : A Virtuous Circle Investment in this solution gives safe sanitation plus:   Health – reduces the spread of disease, especially in the poorer areas Employment – the solution creates jobs Safety & security – when children have to venture outside of their immediate family area to find a toilet, especially at night, they are at significant risk. Organic fertilisers and animal feed products increases yield and productivity in farming.

Many significant public and private organisations support Sanergy today:
