Who is Mr. Skidmore?

Sprechen Sie Deutsch? Do you speak German?

Tips for succeeding in my class: Check our class internet platforms DAILY! http://www.mrskidmoreak.weebly.com Canvas course page Online textbook access (Connect Ed) Tests will be taken online Powerschool (Grades) Come to tutoring--it's free and helpful! Schedule will be posted online soon! Follow my expectations, rules, and procedures

Procedures: Warm-Up Think-Pair-Share Restroom Breaks When B103 has company…. Assignments Cleanup Absences Warm-Up: EVERY DAY I expect that you enter my classroom and immediately take a seat and prepare yourself for class. I expect that when I enter the classroom, everyone is seated and quickly settles down. Before I enter the classroom, I expect you to have your composition notebook open, dated, and see that you are beginning to work. Think-Pair-Share: Find a partner (ONLY groups of 2), partners will be assigned once a seating chart has been arranged. I do plan on switching seating arrangements, so your TPS partner WILL change throughout the year. Restroom Breaks: Raise your hand, I will sign your agenda when the time is appropriate and you may go. Return PROMPTLY. Only one person using the bathroom at a time. I will give you 5 times this semester to use the bathroom in my classroom. You have 7 minutes to get that done. When a guest visits: Students will behave, will raise their hand ALWAYS, will not get up out of your seat unless told to do so and respect our guests’ space and privacy. Do NOT speak with guests unless they are the ones to initiate a conversation. In all other cases, I expect that your full attention is on me and our lesson. Assignments: All assignments posted on canvas are expected to be fully completed and brought with you to our following class. I will grade each and every single assignment that you give me; this one is all on you. You do the assignment, you get the credit. You forget the assignment, tough luck. I will take late assignments but after one day, an automatic 80 is given. After a second day, the assignment will be given a 50%. Any classwork that I require of you to turn in will be personally given to me at the door as you are dismissed. If I do not have your classwork and you leave my classroom, I will give you an automatic zero. No exceptions. Some days I will assign an exit ticket in order to leave my classroom...I expect the same for these. Clean-Up: One thing I do NOT tolerate is an trashed classroom at the end of the day. Before the exit ticket/dismissal, we will ALL make a group effort to clean my room for the class following. There will be consequences for leaving my classroom a mess. 1st offense: warning 2nd offense: 60 minute cleaning detention Do I make myself clear? Absences: If you will be absent for my class and are aware prior to my class, I expect that you notify me and the school of your absence. I will personally contact you and make sure that you are caught up and given any assignments that you may miss while gone. Anything that is graded and turned in while you are absent is expect to be returned WITHIN 5 DAYS. If you miss more than 10 days in a semester, you will be required by AK to attend recovery classes. Failure to attend will result in me having to fail you in my class.

Consequences: For major infractions (cheating, plagiarism, violence, illicit substances, sexual harassment) → directly to administration Minor infractions: Verbal warning → student conference with me → parent contact → after school detention → referral to administration Discipline Consequence for eating/drinking/writing on tables/leaving trash: o 1 st offense: warning, clean area at end of class o 2 nd offense: 60 minute cleaning detention All major infractions (e.g. cheating, plagiarism, violence, illicit substances, sexual harassment) will be referred directly to administration. Other/minor infractions may result in the following consequences: o Verbal warning o Student conference with the teacher o Parent contact o After school detention o Referral to administration
