Quiz Civil Rights Right or wrong? If WRONG correct the information (write a full sentence) There might be one or more mistakes. If RIGHT add* (ajouter) another piece of information

Examples: Martin Luther King started the Civil Rights Movement. WRONG – A lot of people all over the South started to protest against segregation: they started the movement. MLK became their leader later on. Segregation in the USA was allowed in the Southern States. RIGHT – The racist Jim Crow laws were established in the south. Black people were segregated by law.

The first Ku Klux Klan was created to defend white superiority. Linda Brown’s parents wanted her to attend the school that was closer to home but she was not allowed. Their fight was useless and they lost their case in 1965. Rosa Parks refused to sit in the white section of a bus. Rosa’s action triggered* (started) a violent demonstration in Alabama. Little Rock High School was an integrated* (mixing white and black students) school, that’s why 9 white teachers decided to protest. In Greensboro, a group of black students decided to protest peacefully. The march in Washington gatherered lots of people in 1963 Martin Luther King was invited to participate. Today, the Ku Klux Klan still exists and has more than 1 Million members.
