Independent Progress Study on Youth, Peace and Security UNSCR 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security (2015) included provision for a progress study. The initial report was submitted to the UN General Assembly and Security Council in March.  The Commonwealth Secretariat hosted this separate event (on 29 November) to launch the expanded version of the report, published as The Missing Peace, and to prompt action from civil society / governmental organisations equally. The report itself includes clear rejection of persistent myths and stereotypes around young people as (either) perpetrators or victims – and the underlying assumption that young people are in need of guidance / direction in all areas of their lives. The recommendations have been expanded from those given in the initial report – and are specific and practical.
