Charge: Establish a CLAS Staff Council that will become a formally elected shared governance committee that confers with and assists the Dean on issues that concern non-organized CLAS staff members. Why: CLAS is one of the few colleges in the University that does not have a separate staff council. This Steering Committee was formed, by appointment from Interim Dean Kearney, at the behest of President Harreld with the encouragement of CLAS staff to address this issue. The charge of this committee is to establish a CLAS Staff Council that will become a formally elected shared governance committee that confers with and assists the Dean on issues that concern non-organized CLAS staff members. Representation: The Council will consist of 11 members, grouped by Job Function Categories, voting groups will be broken-down to represent the staff.

Important Next Steps CLAS Faculty: Pending approval from Faculty Assembly today, a vote for a MOPP amendment can be initiated First week in December- full CLAS Faculty vote on MOPP amendment will be held CLAS Staff Council Steering Committee: If approved by the CLAS Faculty vote, this committee will move forward in laying the groundwork for the first CLAS Staff Council Elections to be held spring 2019 Draft the CLAS Staff Council by-laws Assist with the first CLAS Staff Council Elections
