Today’s Homework Vocabulary Practice #2 due Monday, September 14th

Today’s Objectives You will review the last three vocabulary words in preparation for your exam by taking notes on definition, synonym, sentence from selection, and by creating a picture in order to show mastery by creating sentences correctly using three of the words You will work with a group to embed a quotation using one of the methods outlined by combining an assertion and text evidence and then adding commentary

Petrified Definition: (v) to paralyze with astonishment, horror, or other strong emotion Synonyms: terrified; shocked Sentence from Selection: We stood stunned, petrified. Could this be just a nightmare (pg. 31)?

Surreal Definition (adj): marked by the intense irrational reality of a dream Synonyms: unbelievable, fantastic Sentence: His very presence in the procession was enough to make the scene seem surreal (pg. 17).”

Weary Definition: physically or mentally exhausted by hard work, exertion or strain Synonyms: tiredness; fatigue Sentence from selection: Even Moishe the Beadle had fallen silent. He was weary of talking (pg. 8).

Vocabulary Sentences Take 3 minutes to write the last of your sentences You may write one sentence for each word or use three words in one sentence or two words in one As long as you use three of the words, you will get all the credit TRY TO USE THEM CORRECTLY PLEASE Check your grammar and spelling—if it is not up to par, your sentences will not be good enough for the wall!

Short Answer Response Rubric Checklist Please glue these two pages in your TOOLBOX section (last part) of your notebook Highlight and take notes as I do
