How female ambition is shaped. Positions of Power How female ambition is shaped.

Studies of boys and girls show that as children… Back to Childhood: Studies of boys and girls show that as children… Both sexes have remarkably similar desires for achievement. Both wish for accomplishment requiring work or skill. Both desire recognition and honor.

Position in the U.S. :

Example: Ben Barres: -Ben is a transsexual neuroscientist -Ben worked as both genders in science -Ben noted that he is treated with more respect and interrupted less frequently now as a man.

Men & Women: -While men overrate their performance; women tend to underrate their own. -Compare grades from both genders in a subject with the exact same scores. Males think they are better than females. -Men tend to think they are rating their abilities as higher and expressed greater goals for future related activities; women rating their abilities as lower and expressed lower goals.

Bias: When a person got perceive as talented, this person became more talented. If a person perceived as less able, this person’s ability shrinked. Example: A group of students with average grades. Once the teacher gives out gifts for half of the students, for another exam result comes out the students received gifts scored higher.
