Chilli con carne Starter Tasks: Personal Hygiene Collect recipe/ingredients Boil kettle Start to prepare vegetables N5 HPC

Learning Intentions To use the process of stewing

Chilli con carne Ingredients Method 200g Mince 1 Onion (diced) 1 Stick of Celery (diced) ¼ of a Green Pepper (diced) Seasoning 1 x 5ml spoon chilli powder 1 x 5ml spoon paprika 1 Small can of chopped tomatoes 2 Teaspoons of Kidney Beans ½ Beef Stock Cube 100ml Water 100g Long Grain Rice Method Half fill a large pan with salted water and bring to the BOIL and add the rice. Cook the rice for ten minutes and then drain well. Place mince is a medium sized pan and stir over a low heat until brown. Remove from heat. Prepare all vegetables and add to the pan Add all other ingredients except rice Put mince mixture back on the heat, bring to the BOIL and then SIMMER for 20 minutes. Present dish with a rice border and chilli in the middle of the rice. Garnish with a sprig of parsley.
