Lost Boys of Sudan History Unit Question How do culture, time, and place influence the development of identity?

How do Culture, time and place influence the development of identity? Culture-the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group Gender- the behavioral, cultural, or psychological traits typically associated with being a boy or girl.

Africa—Basic Geography Africa is the second-largest continent in area and population. There are over 50 sovereign nations on the continent of Africa. Sudan is located in three separate regions of the continent: the Sahara Desert, the Sahel or savannah, and the Great Rift Valley.

Depending on the time of year, South Sudan can be lush and green or dry and brown. April through December is the rainy season. January through March is the dry season.

Colonial Africa European nations began exploiting Africa’s vast natural resources in the 16th century. In 1562, England became the first European nation to engage in the African slave trade. In 1884, seven European nations divided the African continent into 50 separate colonies. The last African nation to gain its independence from a European nation was Zimbabwe in 1980. Which two European nations held the most African colonies as of 1914?
