Class Rituals and Routines Mrs. Lucas’ Favorite Things

8/8/17 Bear Time: Journal Prompt – In your class notebook, label with the assignment and the date. Write about the most fun you have ever had at school.

8/9/17 Bear Time: Journal Prompt What is your favorite thing so far about being in this grade? What do you look forward to or expect at this level? ‘ What are your goals for this school year?

Procedures Do Not Leave the Class Once You Enter Remain seated and quiet during announcements and bus call. I dismiss – not the bell or announcements. Clean up any trash you can see and reach.

If you are absent… Ask a peer to see their class notebook. See me at an appropriate time (like connections)

If you need to leave the room for ANY reason… Make sure you have a good reason (IT MUST BE AN EMERGENCY). Fill out a pass in your agenda. Quietly (like a ninja) show me your pass so that I can sign it. Return quietly (like a ninja) and in a timely manner. Pass privileges can be revoked at any time.

Remember Mrs. Lucas’ pet peeve… DON’T TOUCH MY STUFF!!

Mini-Lesson: Getting to Know You For each box, find AT LEAST one person who fits the description. Try not to use the same person twice. You will have ten minutes.

Writing Workshop: Narrative Write a scene in your writing notebook in which three “characters” from your getting to know you sheet interact.

Wrap Up Activity: Answer in your Class Notebook. Think about how you would like the rest of your school year to be. Write a quick paragraph telling 2 goals you have for yourself and how you plan to accomplish them.
