Meditation Acts:14:21-23 After proclaiming the Message in Derbe and establishing a strong core of disciples, they retraced their steps to Lystra, then Iconium, and then Antioch, putting muscle and sinew in the lives of the disciples, urging them to stick with what they had begun to believe and not quit, making it clear to them that it wouldn’t be easy:

“Anyone signing up for the kingdom of God has to go through plenty of hard times.” Paul and Barnabas handpicked leaders in each church. After praying—their prayers intensified by fasting—they presented these new leaders to the Master to whom they had entrusted their lives.

crown thine ancient church’s story; bring her bud to glorious flower.

God of Grace and God of Glory (Verse 2) 2. Lo! the hosts of evil round us scorn thy Christ, assail his ways!

Fears and doubts too long have bound us; free our hearts to work and praise.

God of Grace and God of Glory (Verse 3) 3. Cure thy children’s warring madness, bend our pride to thy control;

shame our wanton, selfish gladness, rich in things and poor in soul.

Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, lest we miss thy kingdom’s goal, (kingdom’s goal) lest we miss thy kingdom’s goal.

God of Grace and God of Glory (Verse 4) 4. Save us from weak resignation to the evils we deplore;

let the search for thy salvation be our glory evermore.

Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, serving thee whom we adore, (we adore) serving thee whom we adore.

*Opening Prayer Lord Jesus, Come and strengthen us for the work of your kingdom. Thank you for walking the road with us, encouraging us with the Holy Scriptures, Paul, Barnabas and Esther. We give our lives to you and long for your Holy Spirit to speak to us and through us, guiding our every move. Amen.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Scripture Reading Esther 4:14c-16 For if you keep silence at such a time as this, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another quarter, but you and your father’s family will perish. Scripture Reading Esther 4:14c-16 16 “Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. You Are the Seed (1) You Are the Seed (Sois la Semilla) 583 WORDS: Cesareo Gabaraín, 1979; trans. by Raquel Gutiérrez-Achon and Skinner Chávez-Melo (Mt. 28:19-20) 1. You are the seed that will grow a new sprout; you’re a star that will shine in the night; © 1979 Ediciones Paulinas; trans. © 1989 The United Methodist Publishing House

you are the yeast and a small grain of salt, a beacon to glow in the dark.

You are the dawn that will bring a new day; you’re the wheat that will bear golden grain;

you are a sting and a soft, gentle touch, my witnesses where’er you go.

You Are the Seed (Refrain) Go, my friends, go to the world, proclaiming love to all, messengers of my forgiving peace, eternal love.

Be, my friends, a loyal witness, from the dead I arose; “Lo, I’ll be with you forever, till the end of the world.”

You Are the Seed (2) 2. You are the flame that will lighten the dark, sending sparkles of hope, faith, and love;

you are the shepherds to lead the whole world through valleys and pastures of peace.

You are the friends that I chose for myself, the word that I want to proclaim.

You are the new kingdom built on a rock where justice and truth always reign.

You Are the Seed (Refrain) Go, my friends, go to the world, proclaiming love to all, messengers of my forgiving peace, eternal love.

Be, my friends, a loyal witness, from the dead I arose; “Lo, I’ll be with you forever, till the end of the world.”

You Are the Seed (3) 3. You are the life that will nurture the plant; you’re the waves in a turbulent sea;

yesterday’s yeast is beginning to rise, a new loaf of bread it will yield.

There is no place for a city to hide, nor a mountain can cover its might;

may your good deeds show a world in despair a path that will lead all to God.

You Are the Seed (Refrain) Go, my friends, go to the world, proclaiming love to all, messengers of my forgiving peace, eternal love.

Be, my friends, a loyal witness, from the dead I arose; “Lo, I’ll be with you forever, till the end of the world.
