Healing, Authority and Discipleship Mark 1:23-45 Healing, Authority and Discipleship

As we preach Jesus, His authority must be established, or people will not choose to follow Him as their Lord.

Establishing His Authority (1) Jesus is Healing And Establishing His Authority

Mark 1:23-45 Mark 1:23-26 - Unclean spirit cast out Mark 1:30-31 - Simons mother-in-law healed Mark 1:32-34 - Possessed and sick healed Mark 1:40-42 - Leper is healed

Mark 1:23,24 And just then there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, 24. saying, “What do we have to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are —the Holy One of God!”

Mark 1:23,24 And just then there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, 24. saying, “What do we have to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are —the Holy One of God!”

Mark 5:6,7 And seeing Jesus from a distance, he ran up and bowed down before Him; 7 and crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What do I have to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God, do not torment me!”

Mark 1:34 And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.

Mark 1:23,24 And just then there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, 24. saying, “What do we have to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are —the Holy One of God!”

Mark 1:25,26 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” 26 And throwing him into convulsions, the unclean spirit cried out with a loud voice, and came out of him.

Mark 1:27 And they were all amazed, so that they debated among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.”

Mark 1:43,44 And He sternly warned him and immediately sent him away, 44 and He said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.”

Recognition of Jesus’ Authority Leads to Disciples Being Made (2) Recognition of Jesus’ Authority Leads to Disciples Being Made

Acts 2:22 “Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know —

Mark 1:28 And immediately the news about Him went out everywhere into all the surrounding district of Galilee.

Mark 1:32,33 And when evening had come, after the sun had set, they {began} bringing to Him all who were ill and those who were demon-possessed. 33 And the whole city had gathered at the door.

Mark 1:45 But he went out and began to proclaim it freely and to spread the news about, to such an extent that Jesus could no longer publicly enter a city, but stayed out in unpopulated areas; and they were coming to Him from everywhere.

Mark 1:25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” Mark 1:34 And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.

Mark 1:35,36 And in the early morning, while it was still dark, He arose and went out and departed to a lonely place, and was praying there. 36 And Simon and his companions hunted for Him;

Mark 1:37,38 and they found Him, and said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.” 38 And He said to them, “Let us go somewhere else to the towns nearby, in order that I may preach there also; for that is what I came out for.”

Rom. 10:17 So faith {comes} from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

As we preach Jesus, His authority must be established, or people will not choose to follow Him as their Lord.
