I Saw This 3
I Went To This 4
I Waited For This 5
I Decided I Needed This 6
I Decided To Just Get The Excel Data 7
But That Failed, So I Screen Scraped It (All 19, 186 rows by 18 columns!) 8 And made a Data Dictionary
Then I Imported Into Spotfire and 9
Re-Created the GWAC Dashboard Data 10
I Got the Following Results I used my Spotfire Dashboard to explore the data and found the following highlights: – There are 51 agencies/programs listed but only 47 have data. – There are 5 contract types, 522 Industry Partners, and 10 years of data. – The Department of Defense has the highest total entries (2552), but the Department of State has the highest sum total estimated value of contracts (over $80 B). – SAIC is the leading industry partner (FAS Alliant GWAC of over $70B) out of a total of over $338 in contracts for all 522 Industry Partners. 11
Conclusions A Spotfire Dashboard is superior to Flash in the following ways: – Much faster performance due to in-memory analytics - I had to wait forever for the GWAC Dashboard to display different tabs and then query data. – More visualization types - I was able to create a sorted bar chart and dynamic cross-table that can then be searched by the Filters and displayed in the Details- on-Demand. Stay tuned for my next What's on My Dashboard Today. 12
