Prayer based on Psalm 85

 Lord our God, In a world where we see murder, greed, hate & violence, oppression, hunger, and evils of all kinds; we call out to you for mercy, O Hope of the Ages.

All: Restore us again, O God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us. Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger through all generations? 

Lord our God, At times your people, the Church, have neglected your high calling to bring your Good News of love and Peace to a broken world. We have sat in the warm comfort of your light and turned away from those perishing in the darkness.

All: Lord our God will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, O LORD, and grant us your salvation. 

Lord God Almighty, Strengthen us for your mission of love to the world. Give us hearts of holy compassion, hands and feet willing to serve, and minds aflame with the truth of your Word. Give us courage & power through your Spirit to oppose evil, and to bring Salvation to the ends of the earth.

All: I will listen to what God the LORD will say; he promises peace to his people, his saints, but let them not return to folly. Amen.
