Pre-Registration Process Teacher makes course recommendations prior to registration What if there isn’t a recommendation? 2/6-2/22- Students register online via PowerSchool Accessible online from home or Smoky Hill 2/25-4/5- Pre-reg verification with counselor Each student will complete an individual meeting with their Counselor Counselors will not be taking appointments during this time period Program of Study
Step 1: Students use PowerSchool Click on “Class Registration”
Step 2 Student needs to click here to choose courses for all subject area.
Selecting a course Student will see their recommendation from their core subject teacher. Student will select their recommendation. If there is no recommendation from a core subject teacher or if the student doesn’t agree with the recommendation, the student will need to have a conversation with that teacher. After selecting the course, click okay.
After the student selects a course, it will show up on the “Class Registration” page of PowerSchool. The student will then select their next course to pre-register for by subject area. Students must choose 6.0 credits of classes.
Choose 3 Alternate Electives Students mush choose 3 alternatives electives – in order of preference (1-3) If you qualify for a 7th class (in a special program), put this as your 1st alternate
Choosing Alternate Electives When choosing your alternates, please be aware there are multiple pages of options.
Look over selections When complete, the student will see all the courses they have selected on the “Class Registration” page in PowerSchool. At the bottom, students will see how many credits they have requested. Student must click on “submit” to finalize the pre-registration.
Student’s Pre-Registration summary After clicking submit, students will see a summary of their course selections.

What’s Next? Choose wisely– Schedule repairs will be allowed for academic reasons only. This is a teamed process that includes the student, parent(s)/guardian(s) and teachers. Purpose of course selection sheet handed out today.
