ASB Elections Info Meeting 2014-2015

Publicity Commissioner 1st Round Positions ASB President ASB Vice President Rally Commissioner Publicity Commissioner

ASB President MUST have 1 year previous ASB experience Primary student rep of IHS Oversee every activity put on by ASB Chairperson of Executive Council Chairperson for all ASB Student Council business meetings Understand and use the veto power effectively Assist in creation of yearly activities calendar Serve on the Budget Committee Assist Treasurer in creation of the yearly ASB budget Maintain running log of all ASB hours Chairperson for student-teacher direct relations program Plans MORP dance

Fundraising Plan and execute all ASB fundraisers Facilitate as many fundraising events as possible Assist with all planning and fundraising throughout the entire school year Coordinate the stock of all merchandise sold in the Viking Vendor throughout school year Sell Vendor gear at all home Varsity Football Games. Coordinate the yearly Matchmaker fundraiser Assist with Viking Vendor

Clubs Organize club booths for Maze Day and Link Orientation Plan all Club Rush days throughout the school year. Plan Multicultural Week In charge of club registrations in spring and fall Establishes: Master list of emails for club presidents and advisors Club meeting days and times Oversees after school food selling Maintains the ASB club email by informing clubs of opportunities such as club rush sign ups Maintain an updated club page on the Irvington site Help facilitate club conferences to ensure productivity

Service Learning Assist Faculty Service Coordinator (currently Mr. Lewis) President of the Service Learning Club Organize and maintain Service Learning website for each student. This includes updating the status of students’ hours each semester Update Service Learning Website at least once a week with service events for student body Organize and manage at least one mandatory service learning for ASB every other month Work with Go Green to organize and manage at least one service learning campus beautification event twice a year Organizer of World Issue Project service event Organize Pen Pal Letters for ASB

Go Green Analyze “green-ness” of all school events (Benchbuilding, club rush, etc.) Ensure all school events (especially where food is being sold) are provided with adequate recycling facilities Lead Green Advisory to streamline school-wide recycling, beautification, etc. Work with ASB and staff on campus beautification events and education. Work with Clubs Commissioner to create a way to check “green-ness” of events with Master Calendar requests Chairperson of the Ecology Fair and Earth Week/Day Facilitate proper clean up at the end of first and second round campaigning weeks Work with Safe Routes for events that coincide with the green integrity of IHS Work with Service Learning for the recycling center every Friday. Set up a recycling schedule in ASB (who takes out recycling each week)

Appreciation Appreciate all sports according to season Chairperson of Staff Appreciation Week Chairperson of Teacher Dinner during parent- teacher conferences in November Make new staff members feel welcome Organize Teacher Buddies for ASB Organize Student/ Athlete(s) of the Month Send out "thank you" notes to anyone that has helped out ASB

LINK Make the freshman transition to Irvington as painless and fun as possible Plan a LINK Advisory Visit once a month Plan the annual LINK Movie Night in the fall Serve as the communication between the LINK Leaders and ASB Assist Freshman class officers Chairperson for Freshman Orientation Chairperson for Summer Bridge Organize elections for LINK Leaders in the spring before he or she takes office Revise the Welcome Guide for new Irvington students

Edjoycation Responsible for relieving student stress and working with the Edjoycation Taskforce to put the joy back in education Chairperson of Core Week (week before finals) Chairperson of Stress Free Week (week after finals) Attend Edjoycation meetings Currently once a week, Wed. after school Run Stress-Free Tutorials Provide students with “survival packages” during finals and AP testing weeks Spontaneously, or as often as possible, create little campaigns to increase awareness of dark and competitive achievement culture to students Run Edjoycation Taskforce Facebook page

Audio/Tech Run the projector at rallies Assist Clubs Commissioner with managing clubs webpage Run/supervise the sound/light equipment at all school functions where requested Maintain/update all equipment owned by ASB Schedule usage of sound equipment Oversee set-up and take-down of sound equipment Run/supervise sound equipment during all ASB-hosted spirit weeks Multicultural, Battle of the Sexes, Spirit Week, etc. Chairperson and DJ for Hello Dance Assist Rally team with providing music and equipment Attend all Rally Run-throughs and setup/cleanup the equipment when finished Have a wide variety of music and know what kind the school likes

Creative Arts Record all school events throughout the year Videotape, take pictures, and document all ASB-sponsored events Create slideshows for rallies and events with footage taken Maintain Irvington website school photos Assist Publicity Commissioner with hallway display cases (ex: add collages) Connection between ASB and art classes (drama, band, choir, art) Check in with Arts Department on a regular basis, update ASB on upcoming events Fill the Arts showcase with information about current Arts events Work on all assemblies.
