DISPENSATIONAL DISTINCTIVES Free Powerpoint Templates Understanding the Bible through the Essential Biblical Distinctive of Circumcision

Chapter 5 – Circumcision After the Cross Was the circumcision distinctive done away with immediately following the cross? What did Christ teach his disciples during the 40 days he appeared to them after the resurrection? Did he teach them that everything he had taught them during his three year earthly ministry is no longer valid? Did he teach them they no longer had to keep the law? Did he teach them that there was no longer a distinction between circumcision and uncircumcision?

Chapter 5 – Circumcision After the Cross 'The Dispensational Distinctive is Still There' 1) Acts 1:6-8 The issue on the apostles mind was the kingdom. They wanted to know if it would be restored then and there. The one with walls, gates, a throne, and the apostles in it. Acts 1:6-8: "6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? 7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

Chapter 5 – Circumcision After the Cross 'The Dispensational Distinctive is Still There' 2) Acts 2:5 Many say Pentecost was the birthplace of the church. But the audience were Jews and the Jews already had a church. It was Circumcised-Jewish disciples, from Jesus Circumcision-Israel only ministry preaching only to those who were circumcised from Israel. The audience was the circumcision. This is not the birthplace of a church of no circumcision. Acts 2:5: "And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven."

Chapter 5 – Circumcision After the Cross 'The Dispensational Distinctive is Still There' 3) Acts 2:14 Acts 2:14: "Ye men of Judea" and "all ye that dwell at Jerusalem". Verse 22 says "Ye men of Israel". Verse 36 says "let all the house of Israel know". Any Gentiles that would have been there wouldn’t have been listening to him, would they? No, because the 12 were not talking to them! Acts 2:14: "But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:"

Chapter 5 – Circumcision After the Cross 'The Dispensational Distinctive is Still There' 4) Acts 2:22-23 Here again the audience is Israel. Notice how the cross is being preached. It is a message of condemnation not a good news of the cross. Acts 2:22-23: "22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: 23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:"

Chapter 5 – Circumcision After the Cross 'The Dispensational Distinctive is Still There' 5) Acts 2:36-39 Peter is calling out the believing remnant of Israel. Acts 2:36-39: "36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."

Chapter 5 – Circumcision After the Cross 'The Dispensational Distinctive is Still There' 6) Acts 2:42 Acts 2:42: "And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers."

Chapter 5 – Circumcision After the Cross 'The Dispensational Distinctive is Still There' 7) Acts 3:25-26 That Christ went to Israel first is consistent with Old Testament prophecy that the Messiah would come to Israel. (Isaiah 59:20 & 49:26) Acts 3:25-26: "25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. 26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities."
