January 8, 1918, Wilson issues his 14 points towards peace efforts, and self determination. Germany sought armistice, and on November 11, 1918, the great war came to an end.

Plain Folks Using plain ordinary people to hit the meaning that if you don't do it, you are not a normal person. Example of Total War

Band Wagon Propagandists use this method to persuade people to follow the crowd. Usually they go, if you don't do this, you will be missing out on a lot of good stuff. While they do this that also simultaneously convince the people already on the band wagon to stay on the band wagon. Example of Conscription

Testimonials Propagandists use this technique to associate a person with experience to endorse their product or cause by having the person with experience give the "stamp of approval."

Name Calling Technique to create fear and arouse prejudice by using negative words and sarcasm to create an unfavorable opinion or hatred against a group, beliefs, ideas or institutions they would have us denounce.

Glittering Generalities These people employ vague, sweeping statements using language associated with values and beliefs deeply held by the audience without providing supporting information or reason.

Transfer Taking an object or symbol that people think of as having power, and associating it with the product or philosophy that the poster is trying to sell to the public. Example of the Lusitania and an Atrocity

Card Stacking Propagandists use this method to make the best case possible for their side, and the worst case for the opposing side. The propagandists will only use the facts that support his or her side, so they do not show the whole truth.

Propaganda Assignment Two part assignment: Create your own propaganda poster. Write a written response that explains you choice.
