School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) (Steve Dixon- Director of ITT, Tudor Grange Academy SCITT)

Why teach? What is it really like? I have heard a lot of people say teachers are born, not made. Is this true? Can I get any more insight or experience? Do I need a PGCE? How do I apply? What will you be looking for? Will I just get ‘thrown in at the deep end’?

How is teaching like being an astronaut???

‘On paper, my career trajectory looks preordained: engineer, fighter pilot, test pilot, astronaut. Typical path for someone in this line of work, straight as a ruler. But that’s not how it really was. There were hairpin curves and dead ends all the way along. I wasn’t destined to be an astronaut. I had to turn myself into one.’
