II. Effects of Geography On United States History

A. The following made North America easier to settle. 1. Plentiful Game – deer, bison, birds, fish, etc… 2. Abundance of Minerals – iron, coal, copper, petroleum, gold, silver, etc... 3. Plentiful Forests 4. Many harbors and bays on the Atlantic shore. 5. Excellent river system with broad rivers, made travel easier.
