Big Hero 6 and Baymax Imtiaz Chowdhury

BayMax Baymax, The Characters, and What is it About? The Disney movie, Big Hero 6, is about a boy named Hiro, his friends, and a robot named Baymax, who possesses an extremely high level of artificial intelligence. The time period is far into the future so the technology is much more stable and advanced, making robots that we have today, and even normal every day technology look weak and feeble. Baymax is a robot, and the aider and companion of Hiro. He possesses such a high level of artificial intelligence, he can think for himself. Like humans think about their choices and evaluate the consequences, Baymax thinks his options through and operates accordingly.

Character Study (Above, Android 17 from Dragon Ball Z) -Cyborgs have biological roots, they are partially human but improved with technology. -Androids appear very alike to humans sometimes, like Android 17 in Dragon Ball Z. However, they can sometimes look different, like C3PO from Star Wars. They generally possess speech like humans and mimic humans in movement. -Robots are generally more technological than cyborgs and androids and humans. They are similar to androids, but do not act like humans, like androids do. -Humans are born with a free mind and the intelligence to do what they want to by themselves, unlike some other beings, such as robots who have to be programmed to think by themselves, which is an extraordinary thing. Character Study (Above, Android 17 from Dragon Ball Z)

Character study continued -I chose Baymax because of all his features he possesses and because he is a robot. This character exhibits many exotic and premium qualities, many that we don’t have today– at least not on a interactive robot! -He possesses many medical traits and perks, such as being able to x-ray someone with his eyes and looking at people up and down. He also could determine health levels, such as emotional status and give diognoses.

Storyline + Theme Baymax was created by Tadashi, the older brother of Hiro, the main character, both being mechanical and robotic geniuses. Tadashi had created this robot in his university alongside with others making their own high tech inventions. Tadashi’s dream was to help other people, and through this robot, he wanted to make something that would help people. Baymax is immensely complex, and took tens and tens of hours and countless attempts. In a video within the movie, Tadashi is placed with Baymax and Tadashi is trying to properly work the speaking, and it took him over eighty times to get that, alone, correct. Callaghan steals the microbots fand uses them for harming Allister Krei. The main characters and secondary characters all grow together through the film. They grow on each other and realize truths. They all work together to defeat Callaghan, making the themes love, about a hero’s journey, and about the battle between good and evil. Love between Hiro and Baymax and Tadashi who is deceased, a hero’s journey being Hiro and Baymax’s heroic journey through out the movie, and the battle between good and evil being Hiro, Baymax, and the others against Callaghan.

The Author’s Purpose -I think that Scott Lobdell created (wrote) Big Hero 6 to show the relationship between a futuristic robot and an everyday boy, and to show what amazing things they could do together.. -The author created this to uniquely mix Disney and Marvel to create Big Hero 6, showing qualities from both. He also wrote it to show the relationship a boy and his futuristic robot and their journey and what they learn from each other. -The author might have humanized the robot, Baymax, to create a relationship between Hiro and himself. Humanizing th robot will give much more prospective, emotion, and so on for the people in the movie, yet also those watching the movie. The humanized robot having a relationship with Hiro changes their views on each other and teaches them more than they could ever learn if he was just a cold, intelligent robot, sharing no emotion.
