French Architecture By: Gabriel Jarman

Information Earliest surviving architecture was found during the stone age Classical architecture was introduced during the Roman conquest in the 1st century French architecture was similar to that of the gothic style which are used to make France’s churches and cathedrals Many superb medieval monuments are still extant, including St. Sernin, Toulouse (1080–1120) and Chartres Cathedral (begun 1194). Pointed arches were common in French architecture as well as flying buttresses The Flying buttresses were used to be both and external eye catcher as well as to move the weight from the buildings themselves to the ground The most common material used was stone, which made the building heavy, dark, damp, and cool during the early development of the architecture.

Information (cont.) Vaulted ceilings were commonly used in the churches and cathedrals was used to divide the weight from the upper floors so that it wouldn’t collapse in on it’s self. Vaulted ceilings allowed vaults to be made in new ways not just circular and rectangular. Churches and cathedrals, as well as other architecture, was built incredibly high French architecture is used all over the world as well as gothic architecture, which is what the French architecture is based off of French architecture can be seen throughout France but originated in southern France as well as Paris

Conclusion: Modern pyramids are mainly used for aesthetics and to reflect the light in a certain way that people would find visually appealing. Many churches and cathedrals use the arch and dome system. The purpose for modern roads is to make the trip form one destination both safer and faster. It also allows for a more pleasant drive People are affected by the buildings around them due to how they are made. Colors used in the design of the structure can change a persons mood as well as what the structure is made of and how it was built Advantages are that you can build a home the way that suits you as well as using the colors that you enjoy the most and make you feel the most pleasant inside. A Disadvantage is the cost to build it as well as the idea that others won’t agree with the ideas you have for your home.
