Stick to the same tense throughout (Commentary- present tense, sports report- past tense) Choose verbs carefully to be precise (don’t use running when you can use sprinting) Use adverbs to describe the performance (soared gracefully, carefully dodging) Organise information in time order Use time adverbs (e.g. next, at last, straight away, immediately, suddenly)

What is happening/ has happened? What is/was the event? Where is it/was it? What is/was the atmosphere like?
