The US Constitution In 1787, it was determined that the Articles of Confederation need some work. US Constitutional Convention (1787) Initial intention is to reform the Articles of Confederation, not really to make a new constitution. But, delegates discovered it would be less work to just scrap the Articles and start over.

Amending the US Constitution These are changes/additions/subtractions from the US Constitution. First, there must be a proposal for a change. 2/3 of Congress (HR and Senate) Special convention called by 2/3 of states Then it must be ratified. 3/4 state legislatures 3/4 ratifying conventions in states
