Lesson Goal: Compare and contrast the condensed version of Best Christmas Pageant with its made-for-TV version. Outcomes: Be able to . . . 1. Describe the main characters in The Best Christmas Pageant. 2. Summarize the plot in The Best Christmas Pageant. 3. Cite the conflict or conflicts in The Best Christmas Pageant. 4. Explain which characters changed and in what ways. 5. State the theme of The Best Christmas Pageant and support your answer.

Starter #1: Imagine that you were tasked with the job of taking The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and creating a film version of that story. How would you do it? What changes would you have to make to adapt the story to a film? Years ago, someone took on that challenge and came up with a made-for-TV version of this story. I’ll let you judge whether the producers managed to capture the magic of the story in their video re-creation.
