What is self-esteem? Self worth- how much a person values themselves Amy self esteem video How a person sees themselves sketches mother/daughter You can have high self-esteem or low- esteem

Characteristics of a person with high self-esteem Don’t judge or make fun of others Are confident in themselves Likes to meet new people They know who they are (don’t try to please others) Respectful/ nice towards others Positive people Have a “I think I can” attitude

Tips for having high self esteem! 1. Make a list of all of your positive attributes 2. Don’t put yourself down 3. Try new (positive) things 4. Spend time with people that make you feel good about yourself 5. Treat yourself and others with respect 6. Smile at others 7. Do something good for someone else 8. Always think positively

Self Esteem? Pg 97L/R Take some time to think about all of your positive attributes… Write down at least 5 positive attributes. Rate yourself on a scale of 1-5. Five being high self esteem. Explain why you gave your-self this rating. What are three things you can do to improve your self esteem.

Does Media give us a realistic view of the average person? Magazines, TV, movies, and others forms of media will try to make you think that there is only “one type of beauty” or “men should look like this” but this is NOT TRUE!!!
