Agenda Export Regulation- A Developing Work Area for Seafish What is the Exports Working Group? Purpose of the Exports Working Group Membership Key Outputs to Date Future Work

1. Export Regulation- A Developing Work Area for Seafish Drivers: EU exit Remit of the regulation team: to facilitate and assist proportionate regulation Action: Dedicated work stream under Challenge 1 Assist stakeholders by signposting to information on food laws of importing country Act as a liaison between government and seafood sector on trade related issues

2. What is the Exports Working Group? Focus on matters related to local authority export health certification Collaboration between the FSA, local authorities, other government departments and stakeholder groups with an interest in export certification issued by local authorities. Chair and Secretariat by the Food Standards Agency Currently meets every 3 months

3. Purpose of the Exports Working Group “… establish an active partnership between representatives of all stakeholders involved in the process of providing local authority certification services to food business operators wishing to export food and drink products to non-EU countries”

3. Purpose of the Exports Working Group Contribute to the design of an effective communication strategy Contribute to central guidance on local authority responsibilities for non-EU exports Consider how best to share good practice and expertise Consider how best to streamline the certification process Review communication between Official Veterinarians and local authorities

Key Outputs to Date New ‘Guidance for Local Authorities on Non-EU Country Exports Certification’ published Seafish were heavily involved in the drafting Sought distinction between seafood and meat export procedures Provided Fish Health Inspectorate item and further clarity 26th September 2018

5. Key Outputs to Date Ensuring local authorities have the best guidance to provide an effective export certification service to industry Opportunity for members to comment on: AP&HA’s Assured Certification of Exports (ACE) Project Proposed changes to health/ID marking for EU exit

6. Future Work Potential for further guidance documents Continued input into the ACE Project Further work to streamline the export certification process Next meeting 23rd November Summary of Working Group meetings in our Regulation monthly newsletter
