Journal Entry #110 Title: What would you do? Imagine you are allowed only one bag for all of your possessions. A soldier holding a rifle orders you to quickly board a cattle car. The door locks and the train pulls out slowly. You have no idea where you are going or when the train will stop. You have 7 minutes to write your response to the prompt. What would you do? Think carefully about your response, especially after learning the background information regarding this time. What thoughts would go through your mind as you are experiencing this? A cattle car or cattle wagon is a type of rolling stock used for carrying livestock to market.

What was a Kapo? A Kapo was a prisoner in a Nazi concentration camp who was assigned by the SS guards to supervise forced labor or carry out administrative tasks.

What is the selection process? Once the Jews were unloaded and separated into male and female lines, they were then subjected to a selection process. SS doctors carried out this selection. Usually, those aged over 14 years of age and deemed 'fit' for work were sent to one side of the unloading ramp; the rest were sent to the other side. What is the selection process?
