NIH Update – New rules re: the Bayh-Dole Act There are new rules governing the reporting of inventions and invention applications. The new regulations will apply to all new (including renewals) and continuation awards beginning on or after October 1, 2018. Changes include modifications to disclosure, election, and filing timelines and a requirement that all documentation be filed through the iEdison system. The Tech Transfer Office handles iEdison stuff. www.grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-18-233.html

Continuous Submission Deadlines Clarification for Council Rounds [Footer] Continuous Submission Deadlines Clarification for Council Rounds Submission is Continuous – Council Deadlines are not. Continuous submission is limited to R01, R21, and R34 applications that are eligible. Eligible applications may be submitted at any time, but they will be assigned to Advisory Council rounds based on the schedule in the table below:

eRA Commons/ASSIST - New Features for Human Subjects System In June, 2018, NIH developed a new Human Subjects System (HSS), which now consolidates human subjects and clinical trial information in once place. HSS also replaced the Inclusion Management System (IMS), used for reporting participant sex/gender, race, and ethnicity information.  Key Changes: NIH migrated enrollment records from IMS to HSS in June, 2018. 2) NIH recipients completing an RPPR are now prompted to access HSS to update inclusion enrollment reports. Recipients may access the system through the Human Subjects link in the RPPR or the eRA Commons Status page.

[Footer] 3) The system includes a new interface and workflow. When submitting studies to NIH, Signing Officials now submit all study records associated with an application at one time rather than separately. 4) Originally, only a Signing Official could submit HSS records to NIH. As of Sept, 2018, both the Progress Report delegation and the Submit delegation will be extended to HSS records. 5) Individuals listed as Multiple Principal Investigators (MPIs) on the original submission will have access to the information in HSS. www.grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-18-179.html

NSF - Research.gov Quick Recap of Recent Changes [Footer] NSF - Research.gov Quick Recap of Recent Changes Last April, NSF made major changes to the way the research community registers for NSF accounts and maintains account and user profile information in FastLane and Research.gov. 1) New Acct Mgt Functionality: Allows users to create and self-manage accounts, and request roles. Eliminates the need for organizational Administrators to create accounts and maintain profile information for their users. 2) Helpful Links: Users with existing NSF accounts can access the NSF ID Lookup page for their NSF ID. Forgotten passwords for established NSF accounts may be retrieved here:

[Footer] www.identity.research.gov/sso/ui/NSFPWResetUserValidation?org=/research 3) New users can register directly with NSF through Research.gov via this link: www.research.gov/accountmgmt/#/registration 4) Reminder: Principal Investigators (PI), all co-PIs, and the Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR) listed on a Grants.gov proposal must all be registered with NSF prior to proposal submission.
