Background For example, one could write report called “Three Faces of Conquest” about the lives of Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan, and Napoleon Bonaparte.

Background By examining the lives of these famous individuals, the historian hopes to improve his or her understanding of the particular historical phenomena that ties the three subjects to one another.
