1. University of Sheffield Research excellence-part of the prestigious Russell Group Rated 82nd in the world – and 13th in the UK in the QS World University Rankings (2018) In the top 50 most international universities globally- ranked 42 out of 800 leading universities worldwide 25,000 students (about 30% postgrad and 30% overseas) Our School (ScHARR) is 4th in the UK in terms of Research power (ahead of Oxford, Cambridge & Imperial) A Medical Faculty dating back to 1828

Our research interests- Public health nutrition in the Global South I lead the Food and Nutrition research group in School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) which brings together 13 academic staff and 12 PhD students; I have over 20 years experience in research in the Global South Public Health Nutrition focus: Dietary transitions in the Global South and its impact on all forms of malnutrition and environmental sustainability; Evidence-informed policy and intervention development for obesity, nutrition-related NCDs and double-duty actions in the Global South

3. Possible areas of collaboration Double burden of obesity and undernutrition considering the highly diverse geography and cultural background of Peru What are common drivers of the different forms of malnutrition? Drivers of consumer and dietary behaviours to inform methods for effective interventions How do food environments influence dietary behaviours? How is urbanisation driving dietary change in different regions? Understanding the response of both individuals and groups to nutritional/dietary interventions, particularly in adolescents What kind of interventions would address multiple forms of malnutrition most effectively? Identification and validation of early biomarkers linked to health How can saliva be used as a non invasive source of biomarkers?  Nutritional requirements at key life stages How are elderly nutritional status and immune health related? Gut-brain axis and psychobiology of food choices How do SCFA in colon wall modify appetite /satiation?
