Mr. Donnell- Social Studies & Financial Literacy Who am I? Mr. Donnell- Social Studies & Financial Literacy cdonnell@wyckoffschools.org

Who am I? Husband 26 years - October 10

Who am I? Father

Who am I? Wyckoff resident since 1999

Why am I here? BA in Economics Management- Ohio Wesleyan University- 1984 Concentrations in History and English 2 years a Marketing Assistant for Manufacturing Company- liaison between Engineering and Sales & Marketing divisions. 13 years- Commercial Photographer- extensive international and domestic travel Masters of Arts in Teaching Program at MSU N-8 certified, Social Studies certified Teaching- 5th grade at Calvin Coolidge School 8th grade Social Studies at Eisenhower 6th grade Social Studies at Eisenhower Camp Counselor - Canoe guide - Coach

My Educational Philosophy is rooted in… …my personal experiences -as a student -as a father …my understanding of Child Development Piaget’s Stages of Cognitive Development Erikson’s Stages of Psychosocial Development Kohlberg’s Stages of Moral Development …my work with children - as a camp counselor - as a coach - as a teacher - as a father and uncle

I Believe…... …that every child can …that a child can not be given self-esteem. They earn it by overcoming obstacles. …every child should be encouraged to dream big. …that a well meaning parent or teacher can do great harm to a child’s sense of self worth by not expecting them to work through a problem or tough situation. …that praise and accolades given frivolously undermine a child’s respect for the adult who gives them. …that struggle provides the most meaningful growth. …maturity and responsibility (in people) are demand driven.
