M.G. Pia on behalf of the Physics Book Team Geant4 Workshop Bordeaux, 7-10 November 2005

Previous agreements Focus on validation of basics Geant4 physics Validation in a set of typical use cases Electromagnetic + Hadronic volume …but nature does not distinguish physics into volumes Address electromagnetic volume first, hadronic volume at a later stage (after 2007) to be revised? “Chapters” of the Book are published as topical papers in refereed journals

Current status Electromagnetic 1st paper published (NIST validation) Bremsstrahlung in progress atomic relaxation Electromagnetic + hadronic Bragg peak Small team actively involved in the project very few young collaborators + few senior experts

Outlook It would be desirable to invest a wider collaboration effort into the Physics Book hadronic physics validation in parallel with electromagnetic one larger team involved in the validation activities cover more domains (scintillation, Cherenkov, optical, muon processes etc.) Identify relevant data sources Investigate publication strategy
