All: O for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer's praise, the glories of my God and King, the triumphs of his grace!

All: My gracious Master and my God, assist me to proclaim,  to spread through all the earth abroad the honors of thy name.

Women: Jesus! the name that charms our fears,  that bids our sorrows cease; 'tis music in the sinner's ears, 'tis life, and health, and peace.

Men: He breaks the power of canceled sin, he sets the prisoner free; his blood can make the foulest clean;  his blood availed for me.

Choir: He speaks, and listening to his voice, new life the dead receive; the mournful, broken hearts rejoice,  the humble poor believe.

All: Hear him, ye deaf; his praise, ye dumb, your loosened tongues employ; ye blind, behold your Savior come, and leap, ye lame, for joy.

All: In Christ, your head, you then shall know, shall feel your sins forgiven; anticipate your heaven below, and own that love is heaven

*Opening Prayer Adapted LKH Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Hymn #26 Confession

Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, maker of all things, judge of all people; We acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, which we from time to time most grievously have committed, by thought, word, and deed, against thy divine majesty.

We do earnestly repent, and are heartily sorry for these our misdoings; the remembrance of them is grievous unto us. Have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us, most merciful Father.

For thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, forgive us all that is past; and grant that we may ever hereafter serve and please thee in newness of life, to the honor and glory of thy name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Scripture Reading Luke 7:11-17 Soon afterwards he went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went with him. 12 As he approached the gate of the town, a man who had died was being carried out. He was his mother’s only son, and she was a widow; and with her was a large crowd from the town. 13 When the Lord saw her, he had compassion for her and said to her, “Do not weep.”

14 Then he came forward and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said, “Young man, I say to you, rise!” 15 The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother.16 Fear seized all of them; and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen among us!” and “God has looked favorably on his people!” 17 This word about him spread throughout Judea and all the surrounding country.

Hymn #26 Invitation

Ye that do truly and earnestly repent of your sins, and are in love and charity with your neighbors, and intend to lead a new life, following the commandments of God and walking from henceforth in his holy ways: Draw near with faith, and take this Holy Sacrament to your comfort, having made your humble confession to almighty God.

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of Heaven and earth; The Apostle’s Creed (Hymnal # 881) I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of Heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried;

the third day, He rose from the dead; he ascended to Heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

This is the Day of New Beginings. Hymn This is the Day of New Beginings. vss. 1-4 Hymnal #383

This is a day of new beginnings, time to remember and move on, time to believe what love is bringing, laying to rest the pain that's gone.

For by the life and death of Jesus, love's mighty Spirit, now as then, can make for us a world of difference, as faith and hope are born again.

Then let us, with the Spirit's daring, step from the past and leave behind our disappointment, guilt and grieving, seeking new paths, and sure to find.

Christ is alive, and goes before us to show and share what love can do  Christ is alive, and goes before us to show and share what love can do. This is a day of new beginnings -- our God is making all things new.

Benediction The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of the Son Jesus Christ our Lord; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be among you, and remain with you always.

Please join us for refreshments in the hospitality room.
