English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) For parents and community members who would like to learn more about Prospect while giving valuable feedback on how we can support our English Learner students. Meetings once per month on selected Thursdays from 6:30-8pm Join us at our next meeting on Thursday January 26th at 6:30pm in the Library.

English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) Dinner is provided!  Topics of the meeting in January include how to communicate with your teenager, graduation requirements, alternative educational options, and what can be done if your student failed any classes. Possible 9th grade schedule English 1 or English 1 Honors PE IM1 or IM2 Biology or Biology Honors Fine Art or Applied Art/LOTE/Band/AVID All 9th grade students must be enrolled in six classes. Note: Leadership class gets added to zero period after elections.

Important Academic Facts Each semester a passed class earns 5 credits; For the year a passed class earns 10 credits A minimum of a D- is required to earn credits towards graduation; colleges require a minimum of C. Failed classes earn no credits, but are calculated in the GPA as a zero and remain on the transcript.

Middle School Visits Presentations to students Students complete and turn in a draft of their class selection Final class request forms with student and parent signature returned to core teacher after visit Class verification letter sent home end of March Deadline to make changes is Friday, April 28th

Important Dates Middle School Visits Discovery Charter, Thursday, January 26th Moreland, Friday, January 27th Monroe, Tuesday, January 31st EDS, Wednesday, February 8th Class list verification letter sent home from Prospect at the end of March 2017-18 School Registration forms are mailed home in August

Intra-district transfers Visit district website www.cuhsd.org and click on “Parents and Students” at the top, then click on “Transfer” Submit completed application to the CUHSD office on Union Avenue District notifies families
