WEEK 13 VOCABULARY BRAIN CELL NERVE CELL A cell (neuron & glial) in the tissue of the brain NERVE CELL An electrically excitable cell that processes & transmits information through electrical & chemical signals

WEEK 13 VOCABULARY RED BLOOD CELL Skin Cell The cells that make up the body’s outer covering; protects against heat & light, injury, infection; regulates body temperature; stores water, fat, & Vitamin D RED BLOOD CELL Most common type of blood cell; vertebrate organism’s principal means of transporting oxygen to body tissues

WEEK 13 VOCABULARY WHITE BLOOD CELL STEM CELL Cells of the immune system that are involved in protecting the body against infectious disease and foreign invaders STEM CELL Undifferentiated cells of multicellular organisms that are capable of giving rise to indefinitely more cells of the same type

WEEK 13 VOCABULARY MUSCLE CELL BONE CELL Long, tubular cells that develop from myoblasts to form muscles BONE CELL Responsible for the make- up of the skeleton in vertebrates

WEEK 13 VOCABULARY SPERM CELL EGG CELL The male reproductive cell in vertebrates EGG CELL The female reproductive cell in vertebrates
