Scale Factor The scale factor is the number you multiplied by to get the lengths of the sides in your new shape. If the scale factor is bigger then “1” then the figure gets larger. (Enlargement) If the scale factor is between 0 and 1 then the figure gets smaller. (Contraction)

Similar Figures If two figures are similar then their corresponding sides must be proportional, and their corresponding angles must be congruent.
