Dec (local): discretionary absences for employees Discretionary absences will not be allowed on: The day before a school holiday; The day after a school holiday; or Days scheduled for professional development. Employees may request approval of discretionary absences on these days. The Superintendent or supervisor will consider: The effect of the absence on the educational program or District operations; and The availability of substitutes.

Limits on number of days Discretionary absences: Cannot exceed three consecutive days, without prior approval; and Must be approved 5 days in advance.
