How are we performing? 2013: 124 spills were reported in our units, 25 of which were external. 2014: 122 spills were reported, 18 of which were external, which means our KPI figures look like this: 2014, the number of spills were almost the same as the year before, however, efforts with the awareness campaigns brought the volumes to half the total volume of 2013: 40936 (for 2014) versus 86264 (for 2013). 2015: Goal is 0 spills to external environment. Data Analysis Types of Fluids Spilled: There has been a considerable increase in the number of spills due to hoses- failures, bursts, coming loose, poor conditions. Hose breakdowns have caused the amount of spills due to hydraulic leaks increase significantly. Constant Care with regards to hose management needs to be a focus. For most spills the root cause can be traced down to human factor for which we can take control of. Types of Spills explained: External Spills have improved over the year and we have managed to reduce the volumes and numbers. Our performance can still be improved further. Our goal is to be a zero discharge unit. Efforts to reduce our contained spills need to be made. Many of these contained spills were due to hose related failures.

You will later on receive a presentation with a collection of experience transfer from all the rigs. What barriers do we have in place? Are these fixed barriers? (hard piping, fix tanks, valves between pipes etc.) Are these mobile barriers? (oil drums, cans, plastic drums, metal drums, hoses etc) What valve & end connections do we have? Which connections leak the most? Are these the best spill prevention valves/connections in the market? What new technology is out there to prevent end connections from leaking? Which valves are the best to hold back on a fluid; Gate, Ball, Flapper valves etc? Where is the hose rubbing against stationary items? How often is this machinery used and can we avoid the rubbing? Are the hoses of the right material for sun light and fluid type? What other connections do we have, JIC, screw type etc. How zero discharge are we? What needs to be done to become zero discharge? What prevention material do we have? What if a valve or hose leaks will there be a secondary way to contain it? Where do we have a single barrier between environment (external) and the fluid? What can we do here? Department
