More Like the Master Jesus is THE Master His disciples called Him Master, teacher, Rabbi and Lord. As master, we answer to Him As master, He is our great teacher – of highest skill MORE like Him – Philippians 3:8-11

Vs. 1 – Like Him in attitude More of His meekness Meekness is not weakness. Strength under pressure Matthew 11:28-30, I am gentle (meek) and lowly in heart… (Isaiah 53:7) We too need meekness – Matthew 5:5, Philippians 4:5

Vs. 1 – Like Him in attitude More humility Humility is not looking too highly of yourself, lowliness of mind Philippians 2:5-8, Jesus humbled Himself. We too need humility – Philippians 2:3-5, 1 Peter 5:5-6

Vs. 1 – Like Him in attitude More zeal to labor Jesus did His work with zeal John 2:16-17, as He cleansed the temple, etc. We too need zeal – Titus 2:14

Vs. 1 – Like Him in attitude More courage to be true Jesus was very courageous and bold Matthew 23, John 7:26, cf. Matthew 22:16 the people acknowledge that He spoke truth regardless of what others thought of Him We too need courage and boldness – Acts 4:13, Ephesians 3:12, Philippians 1:27-28

Vs. 1 – Like Him in attitude More consecration for work He bids me do Jesus dedicated Himself to the Father John 5:30, 17:4; 1 Peter 2:23-24 He committed Himself to God We too need consecration – Titus 2:14, 1 Corinthians 6:11 – sanctified

Vs. 2 – Like Him in action In my daily prayer Jesus prayed often – Luke 5:16; Mark 1:35, Matthew 14:23, Luke 6:12 We need prayer as well – 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Ephesians 6:18. Prayer is a spiritual indicator

Vs. 2 – Like Him in action More strength to carry crosses I must bear Jesus literally carried His cross – John 19:17, 1 Peter 2:24 We must carry our cross (our willingness to suffer and sacrifice) – Matthew 10:38, Luke 14:27

Vs. 2 – Like Him in action More earnest effort His kingdom to increase Jesus always moved forward, sought to increase followers – Acts 10:38, John 9:4 We are called upon to GO – Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15 1 Peter 3:15 Help increase those within His kingdom – Hebrews 10:24-25, 3:12-13

Vs. 2 – Like Him in action More of His Spirit, the wanderer to win Jesus always moved with compassion – Matthew 9:36-38 It is our goal to win the wanderer? 2 Corinthians 5:10-11, James 5:19-20

Vs. 3 – Like Him sharing I would live and grow We must be growing – Hebrews 5:12-14, 2 Peter 3:18, 1:5ff

Vs. 3 – Like Him sharing More of His love to others I would show No greater love – John 3:16, Romans 5:8 John 15:13, 1 John 3:16 Love ought to motivate us toward others - Matthew 22:37-39, 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 2 Corinthians 5:14 – His love compels us

Vs. 3 – Like Him sharing More self-denial like His in Galilee Jesus taught this – Matthew 16:24 Jesus lived this – Philippians 2:5-8, 1 Peter 2:21-23 What are we willing to deny? Titus 2:11-12, Galatians 2:20, Romans 12:1, etc.

Vs. 3 – Like Him sharing More like the Master, I long to EVER be! Serving Him is not a part time job. Nor do we retire while here on earth – Revelation 2:10, Luke 9:62 1 Corinthians 15:58

Let us resolve that in 2018 we will seek to be more like our Master!
