How to spot a bad candidate Behave unprofessionally Receptionists are briefed to note candidates’ behaviour while waiting to be called look for polite, mature and professional composure Within the interview candidates should not get too comfortable or too familiar maintain an air of respectful professionalism throughout.

How to spot a bad candidate Are late late means irresponsible — someone without the care or forethought to plan ahead Mature, organised, keen and responsible job candidates arrive on time or, preferably, a little early for the interview

How to spot a bad candidate Hasn’t researched the company When asked “Why do you want to work here?” Cannot say how their current skills and abilities fit the job description Can’t show any understanding of what the company does

How to spot a bad candidate Lacks insight and/or accountability When asked to "Give an example of a bad decision you have made " Are unable to be introspective, honest, analytical and self-critical Unwilling to say it was their fault Say they have never made a bad decision

How to spot a bad candidate Slags off former employers. Even if they do not really like them they should still show some loyalty and discretion They are just as likely to slag off their next employer

How to spot a bad candidate Asks inappropriate questions.
