Where The Flooring Is Just Right

1.First we will find the area of the kitchen by using the geometric formula for a rectangle, which is b*h. After that we would find the measurement of whole kitchen floor and then we will find the area of the cabinets and subtract the area of the cabinets by the area of the kitchen. By subtracting those two areas you would be able to find out the area that will be tiled.

18 18 x 13 x Total Area of the Kitchen Floor 13 ft To find the area of the whole kitchen floor we have to do b*h which would be 18*13 because 18 is the base of the rectangle and 13 is the height. 18 times 13 equals 234, so the total area of the kitchen is 234 square feet. Now that we found the area of the kitchen floor its time to find the area of the cabinets.

18 18 x 13 x ft 234ft Total Area of the Kitchen Floor 13 ft First we would start with this rectangle

18 18 x 13 x Total Area of the Kitchen Floor 13 ft 10ft is the base and 2ft is the height, so we would do 10*2 which equals to 20 square feet. After that we would do the other rectangle. The base is 5ft but it doesnt show the height. So we would subtract 10ft from 8ft and 10ft – 8ft equals to 2ft and to check if it is right we would see if the other 2ft was the same length. 10 x ft ft 5 x ft

of the Kitchen Floorof the Kitchen Floor 13 ft Now its time to find the area of the trapezoid. The geometric formula of a trapezoid is h (b+B) -:- 2.

13 ft The height of the trapezoid is 2ft the base is 4ft and the capital b is 5ft because if u do 3+2 it equals 5 so it would be 5 squared feet. The 2 comes from the extra line next to the 3ft.

13 ft So the formula would be 2 (4+5) -:- 2.And 2 (4+5) -:- 2 equals to 9 because 4+5 would be 9 then we would need to multiply 9 by 2 which would equal to 18 after that we would need to divide 18 by 2 and 18 divided by 2 equals to 9 squared feet, so the area of the trapezoid is 9 squared feet. 2 (4+5) -:- 2 2(9) -: :- 2 9

13 ft Now to find the total area of the cabinets we have to add all the areas up. And = 39. So the area of the cabinets is 39 squared feet

Now to find the area of the floor that will be tiled we need to subtract the area of the kitchen by the area of the cabinets. So it would be 234 – – 39= 195, so the area that will be tiled is 195 squared feet. 13 ft

2) We estimated that it will take 4 minutes to install each square foot of tile and now we need to find the amount of hours it will take to install all the tiles. It says the amount of hours so we need to turn 780 minutes into hours by dividing 780 by 60. The area that will be tiled is 195. So we would have to multiply 195 by times 4 equals to 780. It says the amount of hours so we need to turn 780 minutes into hours by dividing 780 by divided by 60 equals 13. So it will take 13 hours to install all the tiles in the kitchen. 194 x /

3) We will be charging $14.00 per hour. Because in 2002 we charged $15.75 and we wanted to do it a little cheaper so we chose $14.

4) We will need to have a scraper, glue, tiles. The glue is like cement it helps the tiles stick to the floor and the scraper is like a spatula its to scrape off the glue or the tiles. If a customer chooses a tile that costs t dollars per square foot the formula would be (t*195)+(13*14).

5) If the tiles are $8 the formula would be: (8*195) + (13*14) 8*195 is to find out how much money will the customer spend on tiles and the 13*14 is to figure out how much money will the customer spend on the time that the tiles will be installed.. (8*195) + (13*14) 1,560 + (13*14) 1, ,742 The customer will spend $1,742 to tile his kitchen floor By: Natalie Pinto, Fayth Nderu, Dottie Charest
