Setting up your files for a new school years, those file cabinets can pose some risks. Here are some things to keep in mind.

Open only one drawer at time. Many cabinets actually have a locking feature that prevents multiple drawers from opening at the same time. This reduces the chance that the cabinet will tip over, perhaps injuring someone.

Distribute files evenly among all the drawers in your file cabinet. If some items are heavier than others, put the heaviest items in the lowest drawers. This will help to stabilize the cabinet. In addition, do not place items on top of the file cabinet as they may fall, causing injury to people in front of the cabinet.files

Locate file cabinets away from high traffic areas and narrow walkways so drawers can open freely and passersby will not stumble over open drawers..
