Warm Up Compare your T/F answers from the Forces unit with a neighbor.
- I can describe the force and acceleration of an object moving in a circle. - So I can solve circular motion problems. - I am successful when I can blurt out the direction of force and acceleration for circular motion.

Centripetal Force Any force that keeps an object moving in a circle is called a centripetal (center seeking) force. So, applied force, tension, and friction can be centripetal forces.
Centripetal Acceleration An object moving in a circle accelerates towards the center of the circle. It has centripetal (center seeking) acceleration. Since acceleration is always in the direction of the net force, acceleration for circular motion is towards the center like the force.
