Example A – radio Killed Paper War of the Worlds Play Audio Discuss This slide will show the students that audio is relevant and sometimes more relevant than the written word.

Importance on Lack of Visual Play audio of random noise Show video Shows news clip The lack of visual can intrigue the mind of the listener and cause the listener to want to know more.

Importance of Synthetic Sounds The use of synthetic materials (microphone, tape recorder, etc.) to capture natural sounds (foxes, water, humans, etc) helps the listener to consider the world around them and connect them to a topic.

Putting Audio in Action Audio is not the written word = there is no time to reread Word choice must be concise and thoroughly thought out Overall Objectives : Make the listener imagine the scenario by utilization of descriptive words and scripts in narrative form . Make the listener connect to your campaign by use of sounds related to the topic, terminology related to the topic.

Example B Campaign for cleaner water in Pittsburgh Play Audio and show script Discuss

Audio does not equal radio broadcasts Do not assume audio to be only in the form of radio broadcasts Audio is any audible wave recorded . Other examples include: songs / poems commercials podcasts
